I miscarried today

I just had my first check up at 9 weeks and my doc said my baby didn't have a heartbeat. I was devastated and shocked. I didn't think I was at risk for anything as I had a healthy first baby. I feel so empty and awkward right now as I have a non living baby in my stomach. For those of you who have had a miscarriage how do you recommend passing the fetus?
