SO has flu, became symptomatic on Sunday. Started anti-virals on Monday. His only symptoms today are a productive cough. How long to wait to have him hold 3 month old?

The title pretty much says it all. He last had a fever on Tuesday evening. He's feeling better and today will be the 5 day mark since he started showing symptoms. Should he wait to hold our LO a few more days just to be on the safe side? Or could he change his shirt, wash his hands, and wear a mask?

People with the flu are contagious for up to one day before their symptoms start and 7 days after.  I’d wait until it’s been a week.

My daughter had the flu and I made her wait until the cough was infrequent before I let her do anything with baby.  It was difficult 😫 she loves her brother and is a big help to me.

My pediatrician told me to keep my son out of daycare for 7 days because he’d be contagious that long. I feel for your SO, though, it’s tough to keep your distance when you’re feeling better.

I mean, the both of you have already been exposed anyway so I think it's okay. Just have him wash his hands frequently and cover if he coughs. And just don't let him kiss baby, you should be fine!

Wear a mask. You and baby have already been exposed, keeping him away doesn't change that.
