Is it easy to mistake miscarriage for period?

If you're pregnant and very early on and don't realize you're pregnant or haven't gotten a positive is it easy to mistake a miscarriage for a period? Or are miscarriages very obvious even if you don't know you're pregnant?

My periods get incredibly painful due to endo and I use to bleed like crazy heavy even before I had sex so I could see mistaking it. Mine got so bad I would lay on the floor sick and unable to move I was in so much pain.

People say it's common to mistake it for a period but having had a miscarriage myself at 9 weeks I don't know how it could possibly be mistaken, not only was the bleeding extremely worse than a period I was vomiting and having contractions. And with all that my body did not pass the sac and I had to have a D&C. I know everyone is different but I don't see how it could be mistaken.

Super common.   I went in because I was bleeding so heavy I was scared. I went in and found out I was miscarring.

50-70% of miscarriages are chemical pregnancies, pregnancies that are lost before anything can be seen on a ultrasound.  A growing portion of those are believed to be occurring very quickly after Ovulation, so quickly that many women don't know they're pregnant unless they're using a sensitive test at just the right time.  They are commonly mistaken for a normal to heavy period.  Once you get further along they may be more distinguishable because there is more to expel including embryonic or fetal tissue but for a majority of miscarriages, they could easily be mistaken.
