When should I take a pregnancy test?

Okay Ladies, I had my daughter ten years ago and was on birth control ever since. I hadn’t had sex in a few years and recently got into a new relationship. We had sex and come to find out my birth control (implanon) was expired but still in my arm. This was December 6 the day after my period ended, a week and a half later I was able to get a new one in. Now I’m a few days late on my period and I’m wondering when should I take a test? Please can someone help me or opinions at least. I’ve been so emotional lately.
