Can a gender scan be wrong?

I had my private gender scan at 16 weeks and was told I am having a girl which after 3 boys I was so happy! But if just seen a woman post on Facebook that she is 36 weeks and just found out her 'baby girl' is actually a baby boy 🙈🙈 now I'm so scared they got it wrong because I already spent a fortune on pink everything 😂

If there is a pretty obvious 3 lines between their legs it's most definitely a girl and that wont change. I can see a girl being confused as a boy via swollen girl parts but not a boy being a girl. I think you're pretty safe.

It's about 90% accurate at 20 weeks, not sure about earlier but the genitals are fully formed (just tiny) from 14 weeks on. It's never 100% partially because intersex people exist, but because it's not super common we assume the baby will be either XX (female) or XY (male) meaning there is always room for error.

I know a girl who thought she was having a girl and then right at the end found out it was a boy, lol. Like the day after her baby shower 😅

Not 100%. I'm still confused about this thinking back on it, but while I was working the the daycare years ago, I was talking with   a little girls parents, and they mentioned that at the ultrasound the tech said she was a boy but then out came a girl. Not sure how the tech managed that one. 🤷‍♀️ ... I heard the blood tests are pretty accurate tho

It’s happens, but not very often and it’s not very likely. If there are clear three lines it is more then likely a girl. Good luck!
