A lot of us are used to doing it the traditional way from back when that was the only way. Even now a lot of things automatically change them to the emoji so typing it out would be faster than hunting down the emoji. I'm used to doing that because my messenger changes them for me. So sometimes I forget this app doesn't and I do the physical :) or ^_^ instead of 🙂 or 😊
