Did you do the nuchal translucency scan?

My midwife offered this as an extra ultrasound that needs to be done between 11-13 weeks. I’m not sure if it’s necessary, especially since I will opt to do the NIPT bloodwork.  Did you have the nuchal translucency scan done? Thanks!

I have my scan this coming Monday I’ll be 13w4d and I’m hoping he will do it. As I think last time he said this appt was just going to be with the Doppler that checks hr🙃 I don’t think it’s necessary but I wouldn’t mind seeing baby

I did the scan only (which I’m not even sure I knew I was doing and may have agreed cause I was clueless and like idk so sure) we opted out of blood etc because insurance doesn’t cover genetic testing where I live unless it’s for medical reasons and we had no reason to do them. It was ease of mind after knowing the measurements were where they needed to be.

I did both nipt and the nuchal scan. My doc does both because the nuchal is a two part test- ultrasound plus blood and the 2nd part (blood) tests for things that the nipt doesn’t (spinal bifida being one of them according to my doctor). I had the same question about needing both and that’s what my obgyn explained - that they test for different things even though there is some overlap.

I had it done will all three of my babies and also had the NIPT blood test done with my last two.

We met with a geneticist and ended up doing chromosomal testing, so we didn’t need the ultrasound. But we had a scheduled ultrasound in case we chose the other screening method. We did the ultrasound anyway to see the baby. So glad we did! At 12 weeks it actually looked like a baby! Unlike our 9 week scan!

Yes, that was a normal scan for me. It was included.

I did the harmony test and the AFP test and glad I did as the AFP found a defect with my son and was caught early. With this pregnancy I did both again and they came back normal.
