First visit?

Question

On your first prenatal visit isn’t your OBGYN suppose to do a ultrasound? I’m almost 9 weeks and still haven’t had one done. I am going today and called and they said they don’t do that first visit. Only blood work. Considering going to another because my friend is also pregnant and went elsewhere and on her first visit they did a sonogram. I think this place sucks just want opinions because I read your first visit suppose to be super long and have everything done.

If this is your first pregnancy and you’re not high risk then it’s normal to not have an ultrasound yet. I didn’t have mine done until 12 weeks

On my first appointment they only did a meet and greet and my blood work... then after the appointment was over they scheduled me to come back to get a sonogram to see the baby.!!! Your gonna be happy you waited tho because after 9 weeks you can seee soooo much of the baby it’s soo much better and also you can hear heart beat.!! I have yet to hear the heart beat only see because my ultrasounds were so early

Ot all depends on the doctor. My 1st appointment they usually schedule an ultrasound for later that week. I got lucky and they sent me to another branch to get my ultrasound done that day at 9 weeks. Then you dont get another until 20 weeks. After that, its mainly dopplers and testing until the third trimester. Just know that most doctors arent scan happy, and only do it when necessary! Some also wont do an ultrasound until you're 12 weeks in case your pregnancy may end in early miscarriage.

My first visit was not an ultrasound. It was like bloodwork and a list of do’s and dont’s for pregnancy. At 12 weeks I got an ultrasound.

I have mine in 2 weeks I’ll be 8 weeks +5. All they’re doing with me is a load of paper work and blood work. Although I’m going to see a midwife not obgyn x
