' HELP ME SHES NOT MY MOM Help me'

So in California, this young child decided to have a sign outside her car window stating 'HELP ME SHES NOT MY MOM Help me' which caused several cars to call 911 which resulted in several CHPs and K9s to approach this car.

The girl made it up, it was a prank. The article states the girl 'made it all up and thought it was a fun thing to do'

The mother knew nothing of it and they were let go after being pulled over.

Now how do you think the mother took it when she got home

How do you teach/punish a child on how wrong this 'prank' was? Or do you just let it go? I'm just curious where the girl got this prank idea from?
