When do i get an Ultrasound?!

So I went in to the dr office on Dec 31 to confirm I was pregnant when I was 4 weeks pregnant. The dr said I was and that I should call later and schedule my first prenatal appointment. They said that I shouldn’t worry about coming for the prenatal appointment until I was about 8-10 weeks. Therefore, i scheduled mine for Feb 3 when I’ll be about 9 weeks and 3 days.... I called recently to confirm they would do an ultrasound and I was told no unless the dr ordered it. I requested one anyways cuz duhhh i wanna see my baby. I am kinda wondering what the norm is and if I should find another dr office. Sooo confused seeing so many ultrasounds as early as 6 weeks. Thanks!
