When should I go to the DMV?

I have to return my license plates from my leased car and this is stressing me out to an insane degree. I have anxiety and I hate the DMV lol.

Because of the hours they’re open, my choices are to go before work (and I’d have to be late to work), go after work (and id have to leave work early), or go on the weekend (but it’s insanely crowded and could take twice as long on the weekend).

Pros/cons of each......

Before work:

My boss won’t care at all if I need to be a little late. Probably won’t be super crowded, don’t have to risk them closing while I’m still in line, but if it takes a while I could end up being SUPER late.

After work:

I’d have to leave work very early (again my boss wouldn’t care really, but still annoying and I’d have to make up the time later on). Could be more crowded than the morning. If I don’t get there early enough, they could close while I’m still in line.

Weekend:

Don’t have to worry about work, but it’ll be infinitely more crowded and take much longer, and the idea of the huge crowd and weekend line is giving me so much anxiety

ALSO if anyone has ever done this (returned a license plate to the DMV) how long should I expect this to take?? Because that could definitely impact the decision...
