Would you ride a school bus at 38 weeks pregnant?

I'm a teacher and I'm realizing that my student's field trip falls in May and I'll be 38 weeks pregnant. This is about a 20 minute trip going and another 20 minutes coming back. Would you be concerned about riding a school bus at 38 weeks pregnant? The idea of not being in a seat belt freaks me out as it is. There's a classroom that has the same amount of students as I do, but has 2 teachers. So I was really hoping to have the kiddos ride the bus with that group. I think I may need to get a dr's note, as I mentioned it in our team meeting and my boss said absolutely nothing.

Women ride public transportation all the time, even while pregnant. 
I think you would be fine and shouldn't need a doctors note

I’m a teacher also. When I was pregnant with my first we had a field trip when I was 36 weeks. I requested to stay back at school and switch places with an instructional aide. They went with my class and I covered their classroom assignments.

I just think I wouldn’t want to be so close to my due date and not have a vehicle of my own to get to the hospital if needed !

Also a teacher - I think I would see if I could drive separately and follow the bus. That way you aren’t on the bumpy school bus and you have a vehicle that you can leave in when necessary. There’s got to be a parent or another staff member that could ride the bus to keep you in ratio if needed.

You'll be seeing your doctor weekly at that point and they'll be able to tell you if you need to avoid it or not, but they won't be able to predict until that week.

While I say that it shouldn’t matter I’d still have a talk with your doctor if it freaks you out so much or if u don’t feel comfortable with it after all it is your baby and it’s ur doctors opinion with seeing you that you stay healthy. Maybe your doc can put some fears to rest for you. Good luck hope it helps
