Does age really matter after 18

I’m 26 and the guy I just started seeing is 44. Our goals and motives seem to align and I haven’t had much luck dating my age or even 5 years older. My fam and friends disapprove of the age gap. Is it really all that bad?

It matters less the older you get. There are eighteen years between me and my husband, but we were 29 and 47 when we met. If we had been 18 and 36, it probably wouldn't have worked out. The aspirations of someone nearing 20 are generally not the same as someone nearing 40. The differences grow less pronounced over time.

Eh I would say age doesn’t matter after 25. It takes until 25 for your prefrontal cortex is fully developed so I don’t consider people actually fully developed mentally until then. Since your 26.... your choice.

After that age, it doesn't matter as much as long as you have that connection. You have to make sure you're on the same page for everything though, life goals, kids, etc.

Age doesnt matter. What does matter is the mental maturity. Just cause hes older doesnt mean hes more mature and just cause youre younger doesnt mean you are immature compared to him.

I agree with most that you’re an adult capable of your own decisions but if you’re planning on kids seriously take that into consideration as they likely will loose their father at a young age.
