Tongue Tie and Bruising
Hi, friends! So when my baby was born she was diagnosed with a very slight tongue tie. It was so slight the pediatrician at the hospital didn't deem it necessary to correct. We figured out how to make it work (because otherwise she wouldn't have been able to nurse) and our pediatrician (not the hospital's) said that since nursing was getting better, it probably wouldn't be necessary to get it done, so she didn't give us a referral.
Fast forward to now. My baby is 3.5 months and I've begun to notice it again, especially during leaps when she gets lazy with her nursing. Every time she nurses, my nipples turn dark purple (I attached a pic, but the lighting in our house sucks so it doesn't do it justice) and are tender to the touch.
Is this because of the tongue tie? Should I have her pediatrician reevaluate her for a referral?
Also, I can't use a nipple shield because she doesn't latch on them correctly when she will accept it and otherwise rejects it altogether.
