Newborn over eating??

my son is 1 week old today. he is formula fed & the past 3 days he’s been acting super hungry. he was eating 2 oz every 2 hours (wouldn’t make it to 3) and now he’s eating 3oz every 2 hours (barely making it to 2) I feel like that’s too much for a 1 week old and i’m scared i’m doing something wrong ☹️ is this normal???

That is a lot for a 1 week old. Can you ask your pediatrician?

Mine started wanting to eat every 30 minutes so much that my breasts were running out of milk and I would have to supplement with formula. He’s about a week and a couple days. So I’m thinking as long as they eat and burp and don’t throw up they’re eating just as much as they need to. Babies are surprisingly good at regulating their food intake (eat when hungry. Stop when full) but if it’s really something that is worrying you there’s nothing wrong with calling your pediatrician.

All three of mine was eating 2oz to 3oz every 1-2 hours at a week all mine have been extra hungry babies and my health Vistor said it’s fine my third is now 4 weeks old and she is eating 4oz to 5oz every 3 hours If your concerned always ask your health provider and they’ll give you the right information

Sounds like a lot to me but I’m a FTM and I really know nothing. Pediatrician told us to work to 3 oz but my son is 3 weeks now. I would ask your doctor. He may “seem” hungry but could just be over tired.

My daughter was eating 3 1/2 or 4 oz when she was a week old.

I was feeding my baby 1 1/2 to 2oz every 2 hrs and my pediatrician said to breastfeed if my baby was still hungry after that

Try not to over think it. Babies don’t overeat, they wouldn’t eat if they weren’t hungry AND they eat when they are. So, just try not to worry :) my twins are 2 weeks old and are eating 3oz every 3 hours! Sometimes even 4 freakin oz! I’m not worried, just glad they are hungry and ready to grow :)
