My best friend just found out she was pregnant, not sure how far along yet. Her and her boyfriend both have genital herpes she didn’t wanna ask the question on here so I’m asking for her. There both still currently having intercourse she wants to give birth naturally. Will her baby be born with herpes ? I’ve seen some things that if both parents had it before pregnancy it’s very rare that it’ll pass to the baby. What do you guys say ??

If there’s an active outbreak during birth then she will have to have a c-section to avoid spreading it to the baby. I just read about this the other day. 😔

No. Also, if she’s having an outbreak during labor she will have to have a c section. The baby will not get it unless it comes in contact with the open wounds. They will also put her in the meds around 35/37 weeks to prevent an outbreak.

They actually should ask you at your first appt. I know they asked me with all 3 of my babies...

As long as she’s not having an active outbreak at time of birth baby will be fine. Notify OB at appointment.
