1/2 cm dilated & membrane sweep

So today I had my 39 week appointment (I'm currently 38w6d) and my doctor checked my cervix and I'm 1/2 cm dilated. She performed a membrane sweep (ouch lol). I just went to the bathroom and had some spotting which I know is normal after a sweep, but I'm also having some cramping, which I also believe is normal.

My question is has anyone else had such a small dilation (1/2 cm), gotten a membrane sweep, and had the baby soon after or did it still take a week or 2? I know the membrane sweep can help the process happen quicker, but I don't know if it's still possible with only being 1/2 cm dilated?
