Cervidil?

Question

I go in Sunday night at 10pm and I’m pretty positive my OB said we were going to use Cervidil before induction Monday morning. Experiences with this?

I had cervidil earlier this month when I was induced with my daughter. The contractions started pretty quickly and I had 3 every 10 minutes. I had my first dose at 6:00 am and then again at 10:30 am but by 2:00 pm (they give you a dose once every four hours) the contractions were too fast for me to get another dose. Unfortunately all that contracting and I never dilated any further than what I came in at. I got the epidural at 5:30 pm. After we got my baby’s heart rate under control we started the pitocin at 10:00 pm. By 12:30 I was ready (and so was the baby) to give birth. The pitocin took me from 2cm dilated & 60% effaced to 10cm & 100% effaced in 2.5 hours. Whereas the cervidil had me contracting all day with no change. BUT that is just my experience your body could have a better reaction t the medication. Good luck love! Enjoy the process.

Just had my induction two days ago. I was given cervidil and started having contractions few hours later, went from a 2.5 cm dilated to 3 cm within an hour or so. Right before they came to remove it, my water broke around 4 am and I was then 5 cm dilated. They still ended up giving me pitocin later in the morning to speed things up and my little guy was born only 3-4 hrs after pitocin

I had cervidil inserted with my first... 6-8 hours later I started having contractions! They were still pretty far apart. Started me on oxytocin and broke my water. 
Hopefully cervidil gets you going and you don’t need further intervention! Easier labour that way.

I had cervidil with my first at 41+2. I got it placed at about 9pm, was in active labor by midnight, and had my daughter the next morning at 7:30am. 
I'll be 40 weeks tomorrow and am going in to try cervidil again. I'm hoping it goes as well as it did the first time, but if it doesn't get things going, i'm just going to go home and wait it out for a few more days.

I had two doses of it to start my induction. I wasn't dilated at all when I got there. They can give it every four hours. I got one dose at 8 am and another dose at noon because I still wasn't. They can give it for up to 24 hours. By 430 pm I was one cm but that was enough that they could place one of the catheter balloons.
