Will you get your membranes stripped?

Question

At my last appointment my doctor was saying that she will offer to strip membranes at 38 weeks if I want it. No special reason just something she offers. Anyone had it done before?

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had a sub doctor while mine was stuck in an emergency csection who tried to do it (without telling me, by the way). It was unsuccessful, but I had Braxton Hicks the entire next day, so I had to call in to work. I have memories of staying in the bathtub almost the whole day. 😭
I’m having a repeat scheduled csection this time because I’m having twins.

I had mine swiped when I was 39w, 4 days because the dr said that she thought I would have my baby boy within 24 hrs. At the time my husband was looking at having to go out of town by the next week so we chose to do it. They were swiped at about 10 am on a Tuesday and I had my baby boy at 4:03 the next morning. I think it’s just all in the timing if your body is ready. Mine was. I will say the swipe was the most uncomfortable thing I’ve felt up until actually going into labor.

I would at least try it. Im having a  c section so theres no need. But a little extra help wont hurt.

Stripping membranes never worked for me so I probably won’t try it this time. I’ll probably just take evening primrose again

I was a week late with my first so it was either strip the membranes or be induced 3 days. A day after membranes were stripped I went into labor.

I had 3 sweeps done my last pregnancy and none of them worked. They just were just very painful and caused cramps, more pain, and bleeding.

I had it with my second. They only offered at past 39 wks and if already dilated. I don’t ever want to do again! I was dilated at a 3cm for weeks and it was the most intense pain ever!! I was sweating through the whole thing almost in tears. Nothing happened for me, but I had a scheduled induction the next day anyways. And it didn’t seem to have sped up that process.

I did with my last pregnancy, three times. Id feel crampy afterwards,  and I don't really feel it helped push me into labor. It also was VERY uncomfortable,  I had it done at 38, 39, and 40 weeks to avoid a medicinal induction(they terrify me!). I don't think I'll be doing it this time unless I go past my 40 weeks again.  Very uncomfortable, made it harder to walk, and just didn't help me personally.
