Got pregnant while waiting for IVF 🤷‍♀️

It’s super early days so I am sort of in disbelief and to be honest I’d given up?

I’ve had (diagnosed) PCOS for over 12 years now. I tried to conceive for a year naturally with no luck. Did ovulation tracking with letrozole for 5 cycles with no luck.

So I thought screw it let’s just do IVF and if it doesn’t work after a couple of attempts let’s just let it go. I started a new job so decided to wait after the busy Christmas season to start.

The fertility clinic told me to call them when my period started so we could start the preparation medication for IVF.

My period date came and went. My slightly late period date came and went. I’ve had 100 day cycles before so I just figured my body was going off the rails so I called the clinic to ask if we could induce my period to get started since flo was MIA for over 30 days.

They got me to take a blood test...

positive.

I can’t even remember when I had sex lol. What even

I know many of you will ask what I did. I’ve been on 2500mg metformin a day for over a year. Improved my cycle days by they were still about 39 days.

I’ve been taking vitamin d and folic acid prenatals for a year. All those on a doctors advice.

Moved to the country, so maybe extra exercise and sunshine has helped? (I was sedentary in the city) Diet, while I’ve had much more home cooked food, hasn’t been amazing (I eat much higher GI than I should considering I have insulin resistance)

So overall I’m as baffled as you guys. I didn’t think after 5 treatments it’d actually happen to me any more. I didn’t even get miscarriages or any indication of pregnancy at all before this.

Although I’m still terrified something will happen I wanted to share for those of you who are feeling a bit hopeless. If it can happen for me, with just metformin, without anything else specific, it can happen for you too. It’s a bloody roll of the dice!

I’m dumping bucketloads of baby dust on you all ok and if that doesn’t work try ramen noodles, swimming and coffee with extra cream I dunno 🤷‍♀️
