Bleeding on ovulation

I was given meds for heavy bleeding and cramping and a month after I started having brown or red heavy discharge on the days preceding my ovulation. I quit the meds three months ago but my ovulation is still accompanied by heavy brownish-reddish and sometimes pinkish discharge. Should this be a cause for concern? I also noticed a foul smell three weeks ago which worsened over my period but no other symptoms. I was wondering if that's BV because I've never had the infection before.
