Late periods

My significant other and I just had a terrible breakup. We had sex this month multiple times. All with protection except this last time. My period was supposed to start this morning but it didn't. I've been on birthcontrol for almost a year. Never missed a pill. Taken at 10. Is it normal for a period to be late if you are having sex and previously were not sexually active?
