Do I need to say more or ignore?

If you told a guy you no longer wanted to hang out because you didn’t think it would be a good idea (history of playing games, I’ve been clear don’t want hook ups) and he asked what happened and I repeated not a good idea but then says he understands, but why?
So you don’t understand what no means?

Here’s what I think. If you just said “it’s not a good idea”, and don’t actually give him your reasons, then I don’t think it’s unfair for him to ask why. It sounds like you have a little bit of a history, so why not be upfront with him with your reasons. He said he “understands”, which to me, sounds like he is accepting your “no”, but wants a little more information.

See, I dont think he is pushing you to hang out with him by asking why. Sounds like he just wants to understand the reason. Maybe he thinks he did something to offend you. But you’re being very confusing and not upfront by just saying “I dont think it’s a good idea” and just repeating yourself without actually giving him a reason. And you don’t have to give a guy a reason to why you say no, but I think he’s just trying to understand you. Don’t be a bitch about it. Just tell him

If you’re really being super vague and cryptic by saying it’s “not a good idea” I think he has a right to know why you don’t wanna hang out with him any more. I’m sure he understands that no mean no and you don’t wanna see him but if it were me I’d want to know why you don’t think it’s a good idea. Is it something I need to work on for future relationships? Is it an issue you need to work on with in yourself? Is it something totally out of anyone’s control? 
To me it’s one of those things people say to get attention and then don’t understand why people are asking more questions.
