First time mama tips? Advice?

Question

Anybody have any first time mama tips for this nervous mama?
I never had a mama growing up or a mother like figure to ask questions too.
Any advice for newborns, postpartum care, what to expect? 
Anything you recommend to have on hand?

Congratulations!!! A few things I found helpful for my (vaginal delivery) postpartum was making a postpartum basket before giving birth and keeping it in arms reach in the bathroom. It included witch hazel pads, dermoplast spray, heavy over night pads, frida bottle (best to get warm water up there when you can’t see), hemorrhoid ointment, disposable underwear... also make sure you have nursing bras, bigger underwear, along with nipple pads and nipple butter. Oh and a compression garment for your stomach to help your uterus shrink and help move everything back into place. 
For baby... a lot of onesies, pacifier, burp cloths and blankets, supplement formula in case milk production is low, saline drops, nose frida sucker, mits for baby, nail file, doc a tot dupe (mimicks the womb) swaddles and baby camera. 
The hospital usually provides you with a lot of things you can take home so don’t over pack. I didn’t pack a lot and barely used what I brought. My stay was extended so the robe I brought and compression socks came in handy to be more comfortable when visitors came by. Also little toiletries to look put together.

YouTube videos have mostly kept me sane when my mom can’t help. Or even some support groups can also help!

Check into a doula- they have them for birth and postpartum. I’m using a postpartum one because that’s the part I have the most anxiety about and just want someone to bounce things off of. Or, do you have any close friends who are moms that you can ask questions of? I think a support system is probably one of the most important pieces of this journey- they don’t have to be your mom or mom figure. Just trusted people around you. You’re going to do great!

If your baby is back at birth weight after they come home, DO NOT WAKE THEM AT NIGHT TO FEED. They may still for a few weeks but they will learn to sleep longer sooner if you don’t...hopefully. I’m telling you this from experience. I’m still dealing with a night waker.
