Whats so magical about 1y for babys??

Question

Not trying to sounds skeptical, Im just curious why some things are suddently safe after a year of age. Example, certain medicines... baby sleeping with a blankie, honey (i know botulism),etc
But what about a month before 1y? Unsafe.
 Suddenly its safe at 1y.
Is there a major leap in development at that age or what?

To be honest I think it's because some babies hit milestones much later. Some babies crawl at 6 months, other 10+ months, some babies aren't rolling over until much later as well so I think it's a way to generalize when it's safe for ALL babies (or the majority). By age one, MOST babies should be okay to sleep with a lovey or small blanket because most of them should be able to roll over or move a certain way to breathe. This is just my opinion though, it could be that they have had deaths in terms of SIDS or certain choking hazards in babies up to a year. I'm just gonna follow what they say to do since there's probably a reason for it. 🤷‍♀️

Lol that’s a good question I think that’s just with any age....17 and 18 20 and 21. I’m assuming babies are more developed they aren’t infants so their bodies react differently. Digestive system is a little more stronger and can break certain things down more. Just a safe zone because if they said 11 months ppl would try to do stuff at ten months etc. but I’m just guessing lol

beacuse its much more easier to handle bad situations when the kids are older. After one year most kids have good motor skills to handle a lovey and not get tangled in it and suffocate or if they have a allergic reaction they manage it better etc. But of course that it is not written in stone that you need to wait with everything till one year 😊 but its good to wait with some things till their bodys and minds are just s bit older.

I think it’s just general - every baby is different so they have to put a ‘time’ on it 
My doctor said once baby hit 18lbs he was suited for ‘children’s meds’ even tho he wasn’t of age.  
I was also told babies can have honey as young as 6m BUT they suggest a year to be EXTRA sure and make it a guideline 
Also with some things their motor skills are more developed - they are likely stronger and more developed all around
