Background: we started potty training in October & it went as well as expected, some accidents early on, but by a month in we were down to 1 accident every 1-2 weeks. After Christmas we actually went a whole month with 0 accidents! He always lets us know when he needs to go & we rarely ask.

Now the last 2 weeks have been a nightmare! It started when he was in timeout one day, he peed & pooped his pants. My husband thought it was an accident, but I suspected it was on purpose, well over the next 2 days he had 4 “accidents” while in timeout (his timeouts are only 1 minute). So I thought well he’s just trying to exert control over the situation 🤷🏻‍♀️. But since then it’s like something has happened & he is having accidents regularly (maybe not everyday, but close & sometimes twice in one day!) before when he did have an accident it would be like a few drips & then he’d catch himself & run to the potty, but these are full on puddles often with poop too 🤦🏻‍♀️. We literally hadn’t had a “puddle” type accident since week 1 of potty training.

I’m trying to stay calm & remind him we just use the potty & then praise him a lot when he does have dry undies, but honestly I’m starting to lose patients. This morning we had to cancel plans because he pooped his pants right before we were going to leave the house & by the time we got cleaned up, it was too late.

He turns 2 later this month & does still wear diapers at bed & nap.
