Fresh mozzarella panini

Sarah

This is my second pregnancy. I’m 27 weeks and still having aversions to most foods. I’m still nauseous most days and I haven’t gained very much weight because I typically don’t feel like eating anything because I feel sick or nothing sounds appealing. That being said, for the past month and a half I have been taking my 2 year old to visit her uncle for lunch on Fridays. We go to a little cafe at his work. I have been ordering their fresh mozzarella, tomato, pesto panini every week (so I’ve eaten about 5 or 6 of these sandwiches total this pregnancy) and today for the first time it occurred to me, after we left, that I don’t know if the fresh mozzarella is pasteurized 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️. They do heat the sandwich up in a panini press, but honestly the cheese always tastes room temperature or a little chilly. I don’t know why I didn’t even think about this until today. I guess I was more focused on the fact that I actually wanted to eat something than I was about whether I should be eating it while pregnant. Should I be worried that the fresh mozzarella I’ve been eating weekly could harm my baby? Has anyone else eaten this kind of sandwich during pregnancy and have it turn out fine?

Thanks for any insight!
