For those with kids, what situation would you prefer? Read description.

Question

For those with kids, what would you prefer? 
1.) Moving far (3 hour plane ride) from the place where you and your husband grew up, and leaving all your friends and family behind BUT receiving much more income as a result of the move and mom gets to become a SAHM, OR.....
2) Staying in your home state close to friends and family. Income stays the same and isn’t a ton, but it’s comfortable enough. Mom and dad both continue working.

I can’t decide whether it would benefit my kids more to stay close to all their extended family and have both parents working, or have me become a SAHM mom while hubby brings in a lot more income for our lives currently and in the future, but we’d rarely see extended family.

Personally being a SAHM is awesome, but it's not for everyone. I would see if you could do some sort of trial period to see if being a SAHM is really what you think it'll be.
What will benefit the kids the most is having their caregivers happy and sane and for some people that means working and for some it means not working.

We already live 45 mins away from my husbands family (I’m 9 hrs away) so it’s not like we have this village around us. We plan to move further away because we are not the biggest fan of our area and it’s way too expensive. I rather give my kids space, stability and a great place to grow up.

I don’t want to be a SAHM at all, so I’d choose being closer to my family. But of course other people love being SAHMs and their family isn’t that important to them.

I think it depends on the kids ages. Like if you have a baby I'd want to be a sahm. If you're talking like kids then I'd pick staying with my loved ones

We plan to move away from most of our friends/family because the area we live in isn't great, the area we want to move to have great schools, super low crime, plenty of public transport, etc. Our current area has bad schools, high crime, high xenophobia (racism, homophobia, etc included), outdated public transport, no job market, I could go on. Income doesn't really matter as we're both working towards careers that are needed worldwide and have a pretty standard wage no matter where you are. If you're struggling to make a decision check which area offers better prospects for your kids' futures.

We moved across the continent. It’s hard not having friends and family but you can re grow a community. For us it was the lower cost of living. We wanted to be able to own a house and live a certain life style, sahm, home school and it was not going to happen there.

We moved away before we had our daughter thinking we wanted to be able to raise her in our own house (owning would have been impossible where we were before) and in a better school system.
BUT! Since we had her we’ve missed our family and friends too much. We feel really isolated and have been trying to move back. We know that some creature comforts wouldn’t be the same, but we’d like our family back. I’d probably be working in either scenario, so the SAHM factor isn’t a part of our decision.
