NEED ADVICE 40 weeks and 1 day!!!

Well Wednesday I had an exam and I was 2cm dilated and he said babies head was still high up (2nd child). Then later that night I started losing my mucus plug lots of discharge with blood streaks in it! Went to hospital yesterday cuz the blood increased and was bright right in the discharge. The nurses said I was contracting every 6-7 min which I could feel and it hurt. So they sent me home said come back when 5 min apart and u can't walk or talk through them. Since then I've had increased discharged with more blood. The nurse told me it was okay that it was my bloody show that baby looked Good! So here I am 40 weeks and 1 day contracting but not consistent severe contractions but I'm in pain and have more blood. Any advice ladies??? When is he coming and is this normal??? What can I do??? Is this labor or early labor??
