Has this happened to anyone before??

I went for my first appointment today and they did a vaginal ultrasound. I thought I was around 7 and half weeks calculating from my last period but showed on the ultrasound I’m super early and that they can only see a fetus pole with no heartbeat and the docter said it’s worrisome and that I might be having a miscarriage. This is my first pregnancy and I just started crying when he told me but at the same time I might of just ovulated late and I don’t know what to think.
