Period????

I thought my period would of been much worse, or if I’m even having a period at all lol. I normally get pinkish discharge for a couple of days and then my period starts. But for the past week, I have been having pinkish discharge and then I put a tampon in and 3 hours later I go to change it and it’s only dark brown dish charge with maybe some red blood , and it doesn’t even cover the whole tampon only the top. Could anyone tell me what’s going on? We’re TTC and I took a test a couple days ago and it’s a negative so idk what’s going on lol
