Love vs In-love

I know there’s a difference between loving someone and being in love with someone .. is it possible to fall back in love with someone? If so , how?

I used to be deeply, deeply in love with my SO. But over the years we have BOTH done things that have majorly damaged our relationship and honestly I think we both have fallen out of love with each other but we both DO still love each other..

Is there a way for us to forgive each other, what we have done, repair the relationship, move forward? I know for me personally that I haven’t forgave and now have a wall and trust issues. I am stuck on what has happened and can’t move past it. And it hinders our relationship. Especially because I expect him to forgive and forget what I have done but I’m being a hypocrite for not doing the same.

Is the relationship a lost cause or can we overcome this and respark what was once the best thing to ever happen to each other.
