Super scared ! Umbilical cord prolapse !?

So I went for my apt yesterday at 35 weeks 5 days . Doc checked to see if I was dilated and then ordered an ultrasound. Well turns out baby has flipped to breech and his umbilical cord is laying at the bottom at the opening of my cervix . He warned me that if my water were to break he would have an umbilical cord prolapse and die 😥 so he said he was going to call my high risk doc and see if they wanted to move my c section up from the 26th to the 22nd . He called me this morning and said no they didn’t they were keeping it the 26th but if I dilate at all they will take him . I’m so scared . I have 12 days and I’m terrified my water will break . I go 3 times a week for NSTs and one apt . I’m just really nervous .

Your Dr. never should have said your baby would die is the risk there yes but that is wrong to say it will happen. With both my 1st pregnancy and current pregnancy my babies are transverse and that provides the same risk. I was told if I go into labor to lay down and go to l&d immediately. If you look online the advise is the same except you'll see recommendations that you should take an ambulance to avoid being upright. I had my son via c-section at 39 weeks and did not go into labor naturally.

I have polyhydramnios, which causes a risk for cord prolapse. I’ve been seeing a high risk doctor for the second half of my pregnancy because of the polyhydramnios, as well as for my two vessel cord and marginal cord insertion. Everything so far is going well, but they’re keeping an eye on the position of the baby for this reason. I’m 34 weeks, and last they checked he was head down still, which is good. But I feel like he moves around sooo much, it makes me nervous he’ll flip and be breached as well. A c-section honestly freaks me out more than any of these other complications occurring. 
Cord prolapse does have its risks and can potentially be a serious issue if not dealt with properly, however I personally don’t think a doctor should be saying “your baby is going to die”. There are a lot more professional ways to convey the risks involved with cord prolapse. And frankly, doctors deal with enough of these scenarios to know how to properly treat you and the baby. So they shouldn’t be saying things like that because it’ll only worry you more. 
Best advice I was given was to keep going to my high risk appointments to check the position of the baby and the cord, and as soon as my water breaks (if it breaks before I have regular contractions), don’t wait. Go straight to L&D. Best case scenario is if I’m in labor and having contractions first, don’t wait until my water breaks and don’t wait until you’re 5 minutes or less apart. Because of my complications, I was told to go earlier and as soon as possible basically. Not once did my doctor ever make me feel anxiety about it, he’s been very helpful and confident in everything.
