MIL wants to wear my husband’s clothes?

Hey everyone!

So I recently got married, maybe I’m not aware of how different people can be... but I always thought people shared clothes with their SO/ spouses, not their parents?

My husband has a favorite pair of sweatpants that he wears. We could never find another pair like that. My MIL literally asked him to give it to her just because she likes the color? I mentioned that it was his favorite. Mind you, she doesn’t even wear sweatpants at home nor outside. She wears traditional cultural clothing all the time. I don’t think it even fits her. My husband just changed into another pair of pants and gave them to her. She said no no i dont want it its ur favorite, but he left it on the couch and she saw that. She could’ve given it back to him or me if he wasn’t accepting. It really pissed me off because I can’t find another pair like that to replace it for him. He literally wore that out to run errands, to lounge around the house, to workout etc of course being washed though. As a mother shouldn’t you be happy your kid found something they really like, not take it away from them just bc u like the color? I always have issues with my MIL and this visit was the one time things went really smoothly between us. I was happy and grateful, until this happened and I felt my mood die really quick. I feel bad for acting cold to my husband but I’m annoyed that he gave it to her. I know its his and he can do whatever he wants with it but I loved seeing it on him and loved that he found something he really liked. Am I overreacting? Just feel like it would be better utilized on someone who wears it all the time vs someone who doesnt even wear that type of clothing and it probably doesn’t even fit them. Am i supposed to make sure he wears the worst clothes to her house from now on so she doesnt ask for his stuff? Its not even a male asking for male clothing, it’s a female asking for male clothing?
