Any tips for dealing with thrush?

So of course, it's Friday so both my doc and baby's doc are now closed through the weekend. Nursing on one side has just been so painful tonight. Did some searching online and based on the feeling I believe I have a thrush infection. Any tips on dealing with this so I can make it through the weekend? It hurts so bad to nurse on that side...

Just wanted to update, I saw someone posting on here about a nipple shield and thought I would give it a try (I needed one for my firstborn to help with a latching issue) I bought one today and I will happily say that it has solved my pain issues on my right side completely! So no thrush for us, just a simple latch issue. I will probably try to meet with the lactation consultant at my hospital next week to help get it corrected but this will get us through the weekend until my husband goes back to work.

Try letting some breastmilk dry on the areas before and after feedings. It's what was suggested to my sister when she had thrush, helped within a day

A nurse friend told me to mix a tablespoon of baking soda with about two cups water and to wash my nipples with it after feeding. It's supposed to prevent trush. They were feeling a bit itchy but since doing that have been lots better. I mixed in a squirt type bottle and keep in fridge, just squirt a small amount after feeding and let air dry.

Is baby affected at all? White patches in mouth or raised red bumbs on bum?

A lactation consultant told me to mix equal parts vaginal yeast cream, triple antibiotic, and hydrocortisone and apply a thin layer (not slathered on like lanolin!)  to my nipples after every feeding. No need to wash it off before nursing as the thin layer is quickly absorbed.

Definitely helps! That and ibuprofen. However, that's helped me in the past. This time baby had thrush too...which I've never dealt with before. So I was prescribed diflucan as well as baby (she had nystatin). Just after a couple days the stabby shooting pains through my breasts in between nursing sessions was gone and my nipples didn't feel like they were on fire...I didn't realize how much they actually hurt until it was gone!

Anyways, good luck! I'd actually consider going to acute care over the weekend if your baby has thrush too.
