Elective induction?????

My doctor offered it when I’m 39weeks. I’m 38 years old and have a 20 month old at home so the idea of planning is great but I also had a pretty mellow birth experience with him so I’m torn! Experiences? Yes or no?

I had an elective induction at 39 with my first and now with a different OB will have an elective induction at 39 with my second. My induction wasn’t horrible at all. It was actually a pretty okay experience considering what labor is lol. It lasted about 18 hours from getting in my room to having a baby. I like the predictability. Also there’s some studies coming out saying that not going past your due date reduces your risk of needing a c section due to complications.

I had three and they all were awful. My first they had to use a vacuum aspiration, my second needed forceps-she wasn’t even in the right position and my third her heart rate plummeted with the pitocin and I ended up with a c section! I wish I could go back and just let them come when they were ready but I trusted my doctor who obviously just needed a schedule (and I loved him he was great) my sister in law had no issues with hers so each woman is different.

I loved my induction! I’m planning on another 4/16.
I had my water broken at 11am, for my epidural by 1, was 10cm by 6, I did push for an hour and 56 min but my boy was born at 7:56pm! 
Smooth, uncomplicated, great! 
Hoping for another one just as “easy” with my daughter.

I had an elective induction with my second, it actually worked out really well..especially with the planning of care for my 2 1/2 year old. But every labour and delivery is different...so it could go either way with each decision.

I’ve had 2 inductions but both were passed my due date. They offered me an elective at 39 this time but I’ll have another at 41 weeks because your body is more ready for labor after your due date than before so you are more likely to have a successful induction. Mine were both amazing, and I think it’s due to being overdue. My friend was induced at 39 weeks due to elevated liver enzymes and it was horrible and took 3 days! Mine were 15 hours for the first and 8 hours for the second. My sister was induced for 4/5 if hers at 39 weeks and had no issues and quick labor/deliveries.
