So I know I cant punish my 18 year old, but what can I do?

My son is 18 hes in high school. His girlfriend is 23 in grad school. He's very popular at his HS- he's on the fb team. Recently the school called me to notify me about a leaked video circulating. His girlfriend was using her smartphone to record him eating her out and riding him. In the beginning he asks "Are you sure you wanna record" and she says "mhm its hot" before it all starts. I didn't have a conversation with my son yet because I don't know how to start it. Personally I do want to punish him because he's still a high school student and if you're in high school, you really shouldn't be doing all of that.. But I know people are gonna tell me hes 18 hes grown so I'm not gonna discuss my personal feelings any further. How can I approach this? Or do I just leave it alone because he's an "adult"

He’s still in school, in your house, under your roof. You are still his mother and can punish him how you see fit. I would be livid. He needs to know his stupid actions can have real consequences.

I feel like instead of a punishment it should be more of a conversation to see how he is doing? It’s not fair for anyone to have that type of thing leaked of them! And I think it’s time to put your feelings aside and make sure he is mentally okay

That sounds like it was probably humiliating... he doesn’t need more stress on top of that. He unfortunately learned the hard way, so I’d let it go. Would your reaction be the same if this was a daughter? You wouldn’t be on their side against whoever leaked it that violated them and their privacy? He probably needs your support more than he needs punished right now.

How do you know all these little details about the video? This just sounds like a guy pretending to be a woman posting this dumb assery to see our responses. Why would the school explain to you over the phone things like “eating out, her riding him, and what they said in the video” stop. Troll post.

Was he 18 when it was recorded?  If not, it needs to be taken to the police as she’s a predator. I can’t get my head around a 23 year old wanting an 18 year old kid.  If you pay for his phone, take it. If he uses his car, take away his right to use it.  Change the internet password. Ground him like you would any other teenager. If he doesn’t like it, he can move out.

So I know I cant punish my 18 year old, but what can I do?
