Huge Life Changes

Whitney • Wife (5/20/17). Christian. Mommy to Ryleigh (8/08/18). 👨‍👩‍👧

So over the past weekend, we had to call the ambulance on my mom because she had collapsed in our living room and couldn’t get up.

On Saturday, it was confirmed that she had 2 mini-strokes and a CT scan and MRI both confirmed abnormalities, and that she had multiple lesions on the white matter of the brain.

My husband and I haven’t slept more than a couple hours the past 4 days, and our daughter has been exhausted going everywhere.

Yesterday the neurologist went in to see her; and she has lost the ability to walk or stand, and the ability to use her left hand. Her right side is slightly stronger than her left. What’s concerning is that this all happened suddenly (over 4 days).

They’re saying it could be MS (Multiple Sclerosis) or White Matter Disease. This has all brought up very sudden life adjustments for us. I was going to school, and now I’m a SAHM, as well as a caretaker for my mom. She won’t be coming home for months, and will be going into a rehab center, to hopefully regain the ability to walk.

We live in an upstairs apartment, and she can’t get up here. So everything is changing. It scares me. I stick to what I know, and now we’re living day to day and visiting my mom every day.

Has anyone else gone through this? We are struggling to process it, because we feel like this is happening so fast. Any and all advice is so greatly appreciated. ❤️
