College, do you regret it? Opinions wanted

Question

Did you regret not going to college right after high school? Do you regret not going at all? Did you regret taking a break then going to college?
I don’t want to go to college right after high school, (aka next year). I just want to work and save money then go to college. Idk though because some people regret not going right away, so, thoughts? How did you feel? What did you do?

I don’t regret going straight from high school to undergrad. I regret not going straight from undergrad to grad school. At this point I’ve been done over 3 years and I would’ve been done with grad school already. But instead I kept putting it off.

I took a year off and it had pros and cons. The biggest benefit for me is that I realized college was necessary for me since I had no interest in continuing to make minimum wage. Once I started school, I didn’t screw around. Part of me wishes I had just gone right in though, because it was hard getting back into the mentality and routine of studying all the time. I absolutely do not regret having my degree, it is the only way I could have gotten to where I am today.

I am so glad I went straight from high school to undergrad because it allowed me to move 1000 miles away from my parents at age 17 🤷🏻‍♀️💪🏼
I regret transferring from my first college to one closer to home. I lost a TON of scholarship money because schools don’t give as much scholarship money to transfer students. So... I wish I’d finished out my education at my first college and then I wouldn’t have had so much debt. 
I am glad I waited to get my master’s because I was able to specialize in a field I wouldn’t even have considered straight out of undergrad ☺️

I had no desire to go to college. Three years later, I decided to go. I started at a community College to complete my generals for 3.5 years. I transferred to a great engineering school to get my bachelor's, took 3 years. I valued my education much more because I waited till I was ready. I met my husband at community College, he went back to school in his mid twenties, graduated with his bachelor's at 36.

I don’t regret going to college and getting a degree, but I wish I would have taken some time to figure out what I really wanted to do. I think college taught me a lot of skills that make me a better employee, etc. but I’m now taking a certificate program and not working in my field of study. I completely switched gears 12 years later. I never really used my degree for what it was for. You really can get any job with a degree no matter what it’s in. I do wish I would have given myself some time, but then again, I probably wouldn’t have went at all.🤷🏼‍♀️

I regret not going to college right after high school. I waited 2 years, tried to go back, failed out after one year and didn’t go back. I was still left with some student debt, and nothing to show for it. I ended up going to a technical school, and had much more success there. I think my problem was that I needed a high school structure rather than the laid-backness of college at that time. Now I take college classes online and it seems easier than when I was actually attending, but people grow and change, too. Just remember, everyone’s different!!

I was one of the top 5 students in my senior class out of 250 people. Straight A’s all four years. Everyone assumed I’d apply to a science major and become a doctor or something. I wanted to be a dance teacher. I was already working at a great studio, transferred to an even better one the summer I turned 18. I’ve had great opportunities to take classes with great names from the dance industry. The only thing I wish I did was have more formal training, like a BA in dance. I don’t regret one thing. People have always expected me to stay in school for years but it simply wasn’t for me.

I took 3 years off. I was originally enrolled in police foundations right out of high school. I ended up paying majority of my first semester & I literally didn’t even go. Not once. I dropped out. Lost my money. 
I took that time to really think about it because I was so unsure. When I did go to college it was a private college & I went for hair/esthetics that’s all they did there. & I’m now 6 years later & still love what I do. I can’t imagine wasting the time for policing, & either not enjoying what I do or not doing it at all. I do not regret taking the time to think & save money AT ALL. I wish I would’ve just started that way.
