I have to have a WHAT!?

OK so I'm due my first baby in July and just seen a video on Facebook saying that if you have an epidural you have to have a catheter put in!? I'm not keen for that, I know you'll be numb but eeesh...

Well u won’t be able to get up and walk to the bathroom and they don’t want u to piss all over for the several hours that you’ll be confined to a bed lol
Funny story...I didn’t get an epidural, but the nurse who came on shift later in the day while I was in labor didn’t realize that so she gave me a catheter 🤔 which i realize I should’ve asked why the hell she was doing that but I just figured it was a normal thing🤦‍♀️ it was horrible. But it did distract me from the contractions😂 when my nurse came back I told her I wanted to use the birthing ball and she was confused when I got out of bed with no hesitation, I then put two and two together and told her I didn’t get an epidural she felt ridiculous and took the catheter out! I guess she just assumed everyone gets the epidural!

I had one in with my first due to a bad tear, it's not a nice feeling having it in but after that you can't feel it at all.

Lol I was freaked out by it too, but honestly you don’t even notice it’s there. It doesn’t hurt going on or coming out. They do it once you’re already numb. It’s not a big deal at all. ❤️

When I had mine with my first baby, they just did an intermittent catheter every 2-3 hours. They didn't put in a Foley catheter, (long term catheter like for a c section). I hardly noticed when they did it. It will be ok if you do it! I plan to do an epidural again with this baby, hopefully any day now, and I'm more concerned about the IV than the catheter 😬

I couldn’t feel it at all. I tried peeing on my own, but couldn’t so I had no choice
