Allergic reaction?

I gave my son peanut butter for the first time last week. I mixed it with oatmeal! I’m not sure if he had a reaction or not.. he was fine for most of the day. I gave it to him in the morning but by around 5pm he got really red on his cheeks and anywhere he had eczema. He also had a bit of a rash on his back. I’m confused about what this means because I thought allergic reactions happy right away. This happened 8hrs later! I have a lot of minor allergies and my reactions happen within minutes.. anyone else experience a reaction? If so what was it?

The thing with allergic reactions is that the first exposure most babies/whoever don’t get much of a reaction at all, so parents tend to think their buns are in the clear. Then because the next time the body had been introduced to the allergen before, the body launches more of an immune response, and builds up to anaphylaxis. So parents think the baby isn’t allergic from the first time, and then get surprised by a more severe reaction on the second/third/fourth reaction, and are caught of guard. 
As there seems to be a possible mild reaction, I would consult a doctor, and be careful in introducing it again, either until the doctor gives you the okay, or your somewhere that if a more severe reaction were to occur you’d be able to access the more appropriate medical attention.

Our ped said that allergic reactions don't have to happen immediately if they're ingested it can be up to several days later. We had a reaction with eggs 1 day later but it was severe vomiting. I would see what the doctor says.

Most of the time they do appear right away but they can show up later. If ypure questioning if it was call the pediatrician to get tested. I'm not positive if mine had a reaction to shellfish so were going in for a blood draw next week. Definitely better to play it safe and get baby tested.

I'm not really too sure, but because peanut butter is one of those huge allergies, I would definitely call the pediatrician to ask.
