Should I apologize?

I'm at my on campus job as a sports medicine assistant. Athletes come here often especially men. These three guys were playing around and asking the girls in the room who'd they smash marry and kill. They eventually went up to me to ask. I have a boyfriend but I didn't want to look killjoy or embarass myself not asking so I just randomly without thought said who I'd smash marry and kill so they'd leave me alone and I could keep doing my homework here. My boyfriend is upset at me for even answering in the first place. Was it wrong for me to ask?
