Moms with toddlers!!!! I need advice

Hey everyone! I have a little boy who just turned 2 this month but he has been sleeping all night in his own room and bed since 6 months and has always been my easy sleeper he falls asleep fast and sleeps the latest but the last couple weeks he will not say in his bed! He does not wake his sister up r come in our room he just goes on the couch and sleeps all night and I have no clue what’s going on. He said he was scared one night when I asked him so I tried night lights and also tried a tv with the sound off just so he could have some light and something to fall asleep to but nothing has worked. Any advice?

Just a edit: he does not run freely around the house! I have monitors in the room and also put one in the living room so I can know if he is getting up and he does not he goes straight to the couch and goes to sleep just like he would in his bed. I don’t see how locking him in his room with a gate would make him feel less scared I feel like that would make him even more scared. And yes he picked out his own light we have had the same routine every night for the last 2 years so it’s not because he dosent have a routine. And I don’t feel like tv is a big deal my 4 yr old has one that she likes to go to sleep with so figured I would give it a shot if it would make him less scared.
