Why did he text me this?

So a kid I had a thing with texted me asking if I broke up with my bf and I said yes and we got into a convo and it kept going even the next day. He asked me about working and what I wanna do when I’m older and asked what classes we have together and then I asked if he broke up with his gf and he’s like no we’re still together and I’m like ah okay then he’s like can I ask you something as well and I’m like yes go for it and he asked if it was weird talking to him now Bc he is dating someone and I said no I just didn’t wanna cross any boundries I should’ve asked ahead of time and he’s all like no she’s not the jealous type and I’m like that’s good and he left me on read after that once we were talking all night and into the morning ? Kinda odd and I’m kind of confused why he kept talking to me like that? I sorta felt lead on and I know u should’ve asked ahead of time if he had a gf. Opinions?

UPDATE: he just texted me back after an hour and said he just didn’t want me to not talk to him just cause he’s dating someone?
