Dating Vs. Parents

At what age did you stop “getting” permission to date someone? My mom absolutely hates my boyfriend for literally no reason. I think because when I’m with him she can’t control me, I’m 24 he’s 24. We’ve known each other since we were 5 and ever since I turned 18 and started to do my own thing without her she has tightened her grip on me. She is a master manipulator. Help! He’s moving from Ontario to Alberta I just want them to get along for goodness sake
