What's the best bible version and why?

I really wanna read the word but lets face it the NKJV is so hard to understand, but I herd its the most accurate as well. So im trying to find other christains opinions, thanks for responding......

My suggestion to you is this: to each chapter you read in the KJV, reread that same chapter in another bible version like the NIV. This way you’ll have a better understanding of what God’s word says. There will be books in the Bible that you’ll grasp without requiring translation but it’s still good to know. 
Always make sure you pray first seeking Gods guidance to understanding His Word.

KJV is the one I mainly read but sometimes I'll read from amplified bible. But KJV is my favorite.  At first I could not understand it either,  but, when I prayed to God he begin to reveal to me the meanings of the scripture as I grew closer to him. So whichever version you decide on remember to seek God himself about what He meant and not man.1

I second the woman below about using the youversion Bible app￼. 
It has hundreds of translations, including in many different languages. They just added a really cool prayer feature too. 
I was raised on NKJV￼￼ and NIV, but now I prefer NLT for regular reading, NASB and ESV for study, and CSB, NIV, ICB, and occasionally the message for comparison. 
The message I consider to be a very free-handed paraphrase, not really a translation. 
In the Bible app you can do side-by-side comparisons, and reference back and forth effortlessly.

The problem with niv, nkjv and all these newer versions is that they actually leave out or have significantly different wording than KJV. If you want God’s unchanged, most accurate word I’d go with kjv. Yes I realize it’s hard to read but sometimes when I’m reading scripture I don’t understand I’ll have an niv on the side (since niv is made for a more modern understanding and it tends to have interesting footnotes). KJV is the best but I don’t see anything wrong with having both just so you can understand God’s word completely, or joining bible study.

I also find that version hard to read. I use The Bible App, is free. I can choose from multiple versions to read there and compare versicles simultaneously from up to 5 different versions. You can also highlight, save versicles and take notes. It also has reading plans and devotionals. 
I recommend The Bible Project too. You can find them in YouTube or visit their webpage. They have really good videos explaining in a very simple but deep way all the Bible books. They also have themed videos and other resources you might find useful. It may complement very well your daily reading and increase your knowledge of Biblical history, culture etc. They are awesome.

I dont like the KJV. It's way too hard. It may be more accurate yes, but overall, they'll all be pretty close to the same. I personally like the NLT and NIV and use a study bible as well so I can really understand the scripture. To me, if you cant even understand the king james then dont use it because it wont do you any good and wont help your walk with God if you cant even understand it. Read something you can grow from and really understand the scriptures

I started reading ESV this year because I read that it is translated word-for-word. So it’s easier to understand like NIV, but isn’t missing anything. But I just one of the comments about using ESV for study and NLT for reading, so I’m going to look into that one!
