“EARLY INTERVENTION” PROGRAMS ARE BAD !

My son is almost two and has some speech delays so being the worrywart that I am, I wanted to be proactive and seek additional support. I enroll my child in an early intervention program designed to assist baby in whatever he needs help with. They are supposed to be there to lend their professional opinion. I shared with them my journey and struggles of being a first time mother with no filter ONLY because they assured me I WAS IN FULL CONTROL OF DECISION MAKING REGARDING MY SON, THE PROGRAM WAS VOLUNTARY, AND THAT I COULD DISCONTINUE AT ANY TIME. Wouldn’t you know, that was NEVER THE CASE. I told them I would leave my son in his pack n play to watch tv for an hour or two before doing activities with him because I would be busy doing paperwork. THESE PEOPLE HAD THE NERVE TO TELL ME IT WAS A FORM OF NEGLECT AND THEY COULD FILE A 51A on me unless I continued speech therapy and whatever else they had planned for him there! My son has not been physically, mentally or emotionally abused, he eats 3 healthy square meals a day and his hygiene and clothing are up to par! My child clings to his father and I like magnets 🧲 and he is very much so loved and adored by us... SO WTF WERE THESE PEOPLE MENTIONING DYS INVOLVEMENT FOR?! Long story short, if your child is struggling developmentally IN ANY WAY PLEASE KEEP THEM AND YOUR BUSINESS BETWEEN YOU, YOUR SPOUSE, FAMILY MEMBERS AND CLOSE FRIENDS! Even then, consider the pros and cons when expressing anything that could be interpreted as poor parenting TO OTHERS WHO ARE NOT PARENTS TO THE CHILD! Mandated reporters are regular citizens like you with no specialized degree or training on how to spot ACTUAL child abuse or neglect and that my friends can easily turn into a situation of the state vs YOU. I hope I’ve saved a family the heartache of losing a child to the system for no other reason than people overstepping boundaries that should never be crossed.
