Let me start by saying that I love my boyfriend no matter what. After a conversation on the phone, he sounded and looked extremely sad/depressed so I asked him what was wrong. He told me he is giving up on his career in my city (why he came here in the first place) where he would be paid nicely. Now, I come from a somewhat affluent family and it hurt him and he felt embarrassed that he would have to go back to a trade school to get a blue collar job. I don't care how much money he makes- I just want all the happiness in the world for him. I'm just worried that he wants to get away from me because he might think that I think lesser of him and end the relationship. I'm scared that he might end up moving back home and that breaks my heart. He knows this. I have never seen him so upset ever and I don't know what to do or to help him. I'm giving him all of my support no matter what career path he chooses, but I have no idea how to mentally help as he is a very private person. It really hurts me that he feels this way- that he is embarrassed. I've told him that I don't care, but he was still sad and discouraged.

How do I help a man who is struggling? He told me he wishes he was with me on the phone. I hurt because he is hurting. How can I help him? Please give advice. 😔
