Is it acceptable to share your Registry?
Hey ladies, so I had a question. Recently I had posted on another mommy site about trying to find resources for my daughter. In the comments, one mom asked me if I had a registry and if so to share my registry information. I thought it was really sweet that she cared enough to ask about that when I hadn’t mentioned anything about a registry and it wasn’t what my post was about. So anyway, I shared the link in an update saying thank you to all the Mommas for their helpful information and then said that for the person who asked about my registry information I would post my link. I left it at that and didn’t think anything else of it. 20 minutes later I checked the post again while bored and seeing if any new advice had been shared. To my surprise, other woman had started commenting on how angry they were that I shared my registry. Saying I’d been soliciting them and just trying to scam people for free baby stuff, people were saying that I was a fraud and how dare I try to manipulate innocent people into spending their hard earned money on me. I was shocked. I tried responding to a few comments apologizing and explaining that I’d only updated sharing the link to my registry because someone asked me to but while I was in the middle of responding my post was taken down. No email from the site saying it had been taken down but it just didn’t exist anymore, I’m guessing the same people said it was spam and flagged it? So I guess I’m asking if it wasn’t okay to update with the link once I was asked to? I didn’t think I was doing anything wrong in responding to to her request but maybe I just didn’t think about it hard enough before posting. I don’t know, just needed to vent.
