Abusive relationship

I’ve really been having a hard time convincing myself that I need to leave my boyfriend & stay gone. I’ve never been in a situation like this and it sounds stupid but I still love him even though he’s been putting his hands on me. We live together and he won’t let me leave/ if I leave I just come running back (stupidly). I just really need some honest advise on what to do.

I understand leaving him is the obvious answer but I don’t know what’s wrong with me & why I can’t seem to just leave and stay gone.
